Dear Supporter,

In the build-up to December’s general election, Stop the Towers received a lot of very supportive statements from candidates and the committee are now busy trying to turn those promises into action from our local MPs.

Meanwhile we are still waiting for the plans for the two skyscrapers next to West Ealing Station to appear on Ealing Council’s planning portal.  Neither developer can confirm if their plans have changed, nor can they say when we can expect to see them.  Watch this space for news on that.

Welcome to the Wild West

Elsewhere in Ealing, once known as the Queen of the Suburbs, Ealing Council’s planning department have had a busy start to the year, granting planning permission to several new developments including:

This monstrosity on Trumpers Way in Hanwell

• There was a public exhibition for this eye-sore on the Uxbridge Road  – at 26 storeys, this skyscraper will tower above its neighbouring Arc tower and overlook traditional Victorian houses on Gordon Road and Craven Avenue. Click here to find our more information

Planning application is likely to submitted in February for this giant at Gurnell Leisure Centre.

Sadiq Khan’s legacy & The London Plan

Sadiq Khan’s London Plan is all about uncontrolled development.  Developers are ‘cherry picking’ elements of the plan which entitles them to build higher and denser than before.

Ealing isn’t listening

Stop The Towers feel there is an urgent need for area plans for all of the Crossrail-nodes in the borough: Acton, Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell and Southall.  The council and the GLA has displayed real indifference thus far and we feel they have to start listening or risk a revolt of residents.   We also feel the need for a local design review panel.

Stop The Towers won’t stand by while they destroy our borough through negligence, incompetence or arrogance.

Please show your support with a poster in your window and, if you can, a board in your garden. The more visibility we have as a campaign the better.
