The Ealing Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidates Sonul Badiani (Ealing Central and Acton) and Henrietta Bewley (Ealing North) support the community campaign “Stop The Towers” as developments must be  created ‘working with’ local communities, rather than ‘done to’ them.

Dear Stop the Towers,

We are aware that there is a desperate housing crisis in London and we urgently need more genuinely affordable homes.  Building denser developments near transport hubs is sensible.  However, we share the concerns voiced to us by residents,  that the proposed towers are out of scale. The height, scale and massing of any new developments should reflect the character of the surrounding areas, create a harmonious streetscape and respect the existing building lines. It should be sympathetic to the look and feel of the area.

We are also concerned about the stress on local services with so many big developments in the pipeline.

Ealing council needs to consult with the residents to create the right balance of new homes, preserving  the much loved character of Ealing, quality of life, and public services.
