UNBELIEVABLE
No – this isn’t déjà vu, or an episode of Fawlty Towers! – Ealing Council is again trying to push the controversial Perceval House plans through the planning committee for a third time – this Wednesday evening at 7pm!

At the planning committee meeting three weeks ago, technical issues meant part of the debate and the vote was not broadcast publicly on the council’s live stream. So although the scheme was narrowly approved, the decision was ruled invalid following a successful legal challenge by campaigners.
The decision to rerun the planning committee meeting is even more nonsensical when you consider Ealing’s own legal advice which is that as the “site is within Ealing Broadway ward, where there is a by-election scheduled to be held this May [and as] the application is a particularly large and controversial one, it would not be appropriate to consider it during the formal pre-election period (22nd March – 6th May).”
Yet, contrary to their own clear legal advice, and blind to public opposition the council leadership is continuing to force this inappropriate scheme through in just two days time – on 31st March.
